Phyllis
Rockower first started in real estate in 80’s
in New York, buying her first fixer upper in 1979 for
82k and selling it 7 years later for 435k. This got
her excited. She bailed out of the Long Island market
right before it tanked and moved to Florida, determined
to do this over and over again. She started out small,
buying and fixing a few houses. She then started going
to seminars to learn how to really do this and the rest
is history. She quickly owned 40 rental properties and
was well on her way to building a lucrative retirement.
However, as they say, life happens
while you are making other plans. She found herself
divorced with little money and no credit and her assets
sadly diminished. With the knowledge gained from her
intense studying program, she was able to move first
to Denver for 2 years and then to Los Angeles where
she has been for 9 years. Each time she bought and sold
real estate and started a real estate investor’s
club - both of which are flourishing.
She has put a lot of effort into building
the clubs because she knew first hand the value of having
a likeminded group to network and learn from. Today
the Real Estate Investors Club of Los Angeles has over
500 members who meet monthly to improve their chances
of success by learning from the exciting speakers that
come to meetings, and from the other members as well.
Phyllis has been interviewed
for her real estate expertise by CNBC 4 times; The Daily
Breeze, Channel 7 News, Investor’s Daily, KNX
Radio, NPR and Time Magazine, just to name a few. She
is an active investor herself rather than a seminar
promoter. Phyllis not only talks the talk, but walks
the walk.
