The Real Estate Investor’s Club of
Los Angeles(LAREIC) was started in
1996 by 20-year veteran investor, Phyllis Rockower, who moved at
the bottom of the market. Since she had no contacts in L.A., she
formed a real estate investor’s club in order to network and
to meet people of like minds. After having belonged to such a club
in the other cities she lived in, she knew the value of mingling
with people who can help you and won’t discourage you.
We are not professional seminar promoters. We are
experienced investors who have been there and done that and are
dedicated to helping you sort out fact from fiction and, educators
from pure pitchmen.
We have thought about some of the things that
these unscrupulous characters are doing that seem suspect and came
up with some rules to consider when deciding what is a real club
and what is not.
How long has the outfit been in business?
If it's only since the market got hot-beware!
Do the meetings have no charge? Why would
they not charge? What is their objective?
Are they only promoting one person's service
or material? If so they are not objective.
Do they have a professional staff of high
powered sales people? This is not cool.
Do they contact you with high-pressured sales
pitches? Once again, they are not about teaching you, but selling
you.
Do they constantly try to get you to sign
up for more and more expensive coaching services that run $5000
and more? If so, they do not have your interests at heart. You
need to buy educational materials but most don't run into the
thousands of dollars.
Do they offer money back guarantees
on all the products and seminars they sell? Lots of luck with
some companies that don't.
There are many honest and reliable outfits and
clubs that are genuinely beneficial to those looking to increase
their knowledge. We always promote these people as they do for us.

REIC of LA Staff
Phyllis
Rockower - President & Founder, REIC of LA
Phyllis Rockower
first started in real estate in 80s in New York,
buying her first fixer upper in 1979 for 82k and selling
it 7 years later for 435k. This got her excited. She
bailed out of the Long Island market right before it
tanked and moved to Florida, determined to do this over
and over again. She started out small, buying and fixing
a few houses. She then started going to seminars to
learn how to really do this and the rest is history.
She quickly owned 40 rental properties and was well
on her way to building a lucrative retirement.
However,
as they say, life happens while you are making other
plans. She found herself divorced with little money
and no credit and her assets sadly diminished. With
the knowledge gained from her intense studying program,
she was able to move first to Denver for 2 years and
then to Los Angeles where she has been for nearly 14
years. Each time she bought and sold real estate and
started a real estate investors club - both of
which are flourishing.
She has put
a lot of effort into building the clubs because she
knew first hand the value of having a likeminded group
to network and learn from. Today the Real Estate Investors
Club of Los Angeles (LAREIC) has hundreds of members
who meet monthly to improve their chances of success
by learning from the exciting speakers that come to
meetings, and from the other members as well.
Phyllis has
been interviewed for her real estate expertise by CNBC
4 times; The Daily Breeze, Channel 7 News, Investors
Daily, KNX Radio, NPR and Time Magazine, just to name
a few. She is an active investor herself rather than a
seminar promoter. Phyllis not only talks the talk, but
walks the walk.
Kiwi -
Mascot, REIC of LA
Kiwi has been an active member of the office staff for
several years now. Although diminutive in size, his
contribution is nonetheless significant and important
to the smooth operation of the investors club office.
His official duties include chasing away door to door
salespeople, accompanying Phyllis on site inspections
of potential properties as well as aiding Phyllis' mentoring
or small group training sessions.
When not involved
with real estate, Kiwi indulges in his favorite specialty
- finding the perfect sunny spot to nap & supervise
the day to day tasking of the rest of the staff.
